First place in the South was most likely decided last weekend when FGCU beat UCF 7 to 1 to take the season series 3 to 1.  UCF will stay at #2 with their 8 to 0 early season victory over #3 Loyola

Even with Davenport sitting at #3, two wins by the defending National Champs from Saginaw over #2 Hope maybe enough to earn the bye back to Nationals out of the North

Farmingdale seemed to wrapped up a bye to the sunshine state with their win over #4 Brandywine.

Southern Connecticut, the team that ousted the then defending National Champs Cal at Regionals last year, got their horses back in the stable for this year's Regional run.  Their roster got more impressive and they have celebrated with two wins over top 15 teams already this semester.

They may appear to be on the outside looking in but the Spiders control their own destiny.  Richmond, sitting at #11 has #9 ESU twice and #3 Loyola still left on the schedule.

The College of the Canyons secures #1 seed in the Pacific with a convincing win over #4 Fresno and Northridge handed COC back their 3 first votes with their loss to unranked Long Beach.

Delta will try to hold the 10th spot in the North but they need to keep Kettering off the score board on Feb. 5th to do it.  A win in one of the two vs. Saginaw would help to.

With their schedule Behrend could play spoiler in the Atlantic, they need to beat rival Altoona and probably even Fredonia to do it but they could sneak into 10 if St. Vincents and/or Siena continue to
lose.

Based on voters total points, 8 of the 10 spots in the Pacific seem to be a lock but the real question is for #10.  #11 Iowa State has two vs #10 South Dakota on Feb. 5th and 6th. Looks like Regionals starts two weeks early out West!

MCHC (Michigan) is the first conference to announce their roster for the All-Star Challenge coming in March, but we all know it won't be
enough to beat the fist pumping boys from the Empire.

Tenacious, intense, determined and hard working are but a few of the adjectives that can be used to describe Fairfield Univeristy Senior Captain Will McPherson.  The four year "all-star" member and two year leader of the Stags, examplifies all that any coach would want in a player, yet the leadership

and attitude we've all come to know and expect from Will on the ice is only a preview of things to come.  Over the past four years, in addition to being a student athlete, Will has been enrolled in a Military Leadership Training Program, preparing to  become a United States Marine.  Upon his May graduation from Fairfield University, Will will be entering the United States Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant, and will continue to serve as a leader, only this time for a more serious cause.  On behalf of the Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference administration, coaches and players, we would like to wish Will and his family the very best as he embarks on this next phase of his life.  We would also like to thank him for his committment to serving our country and our Conference as a "Leader" and the type of person we should all aspire to become.

Farmingdale State Takes Inaugural Emperor's Cup

Congratulations to the 2009-2010 Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference Champions, Farmingdale State.  The Rams entered the tournament in the Semi-Final round after securing a first round bye, only to face Regional Rival Southern Connecticut State, who advanced with a win over Hofstra University Friday Night.  The Rams put forth a 60 minute performance against hard charging Southern, to preserve a 5-2 victory and advance to the finals. It was number 1 vs. number 2 as the Rams squared off against Siena College who defeated U Albany in the Semi-Final Round.  The Rams were a force to be reckoned with as they pulled away in the second period with a 7 goal lead.  The Rams closed out the inaugural ECHC season with a 9-2 victory and the Emperor's Cup.  Farmingdale State hopes to ride the momentum to Nationals in sunny Florida. Represent the ECHC well boys!
